    New superintendent

At the board of managers meeting last Tuesday evening the subject of finding a new superintendent was on the agenda. Various avenues of finding a good one were discussed and a main point from the headhunter was that absolute anonymity of the job seekers was necessary to attract good candidates.

It was explained that many of these candidates already had valid contracts and they did not want the districts they now work for to know they were looking elsewhere.

Texas law allows superintendents to break valid contracts by notifying their present district that they wish to leave. The district cannot stop them, however if the district wants to get rid of them, then big bucks are usually on the line to get rid of them.

So now we have candidates who are willing to break valid contracts in order to get a better or higher paying one.

If someone can break a valid contract because of a bad law it shows that they have no ethics and we should not even be looking at them.

We should not even consider someone unless they have notified their present employer of their intentions.
