2014 REMINGTON PARK THOROENDURO
Summer-Fall Season Online Handicapping Contest
Remington Park offers visitors to remingtonpark.com the chance to participate in The Remington Park ThoroEnduro (THOROENDURO) during the 2014 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park.
THOROENDURO is a FREE online contest that will begin with the Remington Park racing on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014. Participants are required to register and provide a working email address as well as a residential address and contact phone number. Once doing so, they can logon to THOROENDURO and select one entry only in each of at least three game races selected by THOROENDURO administrator. Past performances for each challenge race are available on the game page. Participants are credited with a "virtual" $2 win, $2 place and $2 show wager on each of their selections. The total pari-mutuel payouts according to Remington Park official race results will be accrued to the participant's "virtual" bankroll.
EXAMPLE: if your selection in THOROENDURO RACE 1 finishes 2nd, paying $5.60 to place and $3.10 to show, your selection THOROENDURO RACE 2 does not finish first, second, or third (off the board), your selection in THOROENDURO RACE 3 finishes 3rd and pays $3.20 to show, your “virtual” bankroll will be credited or increased by $11.90 ($5.60, $3.10 and $3.20).
Please note, on the following days more than three contest races will be used for THOROENDURO: Sunday, September 28, 2014; Friday, October 17, 2014 and Sunday, December 14, 2014. All of these dates will feature multiple stakes races at Remington Park with many possibly used as contest races for THOROENDURO.
Participants continue in THOROENDURO until such day that none of their selections finishes in the top four of their respective race. Participants can remain in THOROENDURO by having at least one of their selections run in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in their respective race. However, they will get no "virtual bankroll” credit for a 4th-place finisher. Only selections that finish in 1st, 2nd or 3rd position will receive "virtual bankroll” credit based on the official pari-mutuel payoffs for that respective race. Please note: There is no maximum cap placed on the win, place and show payoffs.
Contestants playing THOROENDURO will have one ‘Life’ before getting knocked out of the game for any length of time, or permanently. Contestants can gain additional “Lives” by acquiring The LUCKY HORSESHOE which acts as a free pass that allows players to survive in THOROENDURO if they do not enter selections for a race day or if all of their race selections fail to finish in the top four positions of their respective race. The LUCKY HORSESHOE is an additional ‘life’ utilized to stay in the THOROENDURO.
THOROENDURO contestants that lose all of their eligibility (regular life and any Lucky Horseshoes) may be forced to sit out a few days of THOROENDURO, being placed “In the Barn.” As each new racing week begins at Remington Park (Wednesdays) all contestants that had to sit ‘In the Barn’ due to losing eligibility, will be let back in THOROENDURO. The final get back in THOROENDURO Wednesday will be on November 19, 2014. After that date, if a contestant loses all of their eligibility status (regular life and any Lucky Horseshoes) they will be completely eliminated from THOROENDURO and consideration for prizes.
All eligible contestants will receive additional Lucky Horseshoes on Sunday, September 28, 2014; Friday, October 17, 2014 and Friday, November 7, 2014. If not needed to stay in THOROENDURO, a contestant will have the ability to stockpile any Lucky Horseshoes they own from the beginning of the game or those awarded during the course of the contest.
Those players that do not have to sit out any race days of THOROENDURO, will continue to make their selections and build their ‘virtual bankroll’ and number of winners while others are sitting out waiting to get back in THOROENDURO on an appropriate Wednesday. It is very beneficial to never be forced out of THOROENDURO for any period of time, to continue to build ‘virtual bankroll’ and selected winners for the entire contest.
Participants must make a selection in all three races. In the event of a late scratch of a participant's selection, the participant's selection is automatically transferred to the post-time (off-time) favorite for the respective race. If a participant selects a "coupled" entry, and one (or in the case of a three-horse entry, two) horse(s) is (are) scratched, the participant's choice is the remaining horse(s) in the originally selected entry. If all parts of a selected entry are scratched, the player receives the post-time favorite. If the post-time favorite is a "coupled" entry, the player receives the entire entry and will be credited with the pari-mutuel payout accordingly.
Participants who register for THOROENDURO in the timeframe leading up to the beginning of the game on Saturday, August 23, 2014 will begin THOROENDURO with ONE LUCKY HORSESHOE in addition to their regular player ‘Life.’
Contestants can continue to register for THOROENDURO after the beginning of the game on Saturday, August 23, 2014. However, they will not receive a LUCKY HORSESHOE to begin their play. Instead they will have only one ‘Life’ while they compete and will be forced to wait for the new additional LUCKY HORSESHOES to be awarded at a later date.
The late-arriving contestants will get no credit for wins or any ‘virtual bankroll’ on days they did not play THOROENDURO due to their late registration.
Registration to play THOROENDURO will close 30-minutes before the first Remington Park race of the day on Saturday, September 20, 2014.
SURVIVING TO WIN PRIZES
Players must “survive” THOROENDURO through the end of the 2014 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park (Sunday, December 14, 2014) in order to be eligible for prize consideration. If there are zero players to "survive" THOROENDURO, then prizes will be awarded based on the "virtual" bankroll of contestants at the time of their elimination. Check thoroenduro.com for complete updated standings.
THOROENDURO begins Saturday, August 23, 2014 and concludes when the last Remington Park live race is official on Sunday, December 14, 2014. THOROENDURO scoring is based on pari-mutuel information as supplied by the official Equibase Charts for Remington Park racing. Your race selections must be made no less than thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of the first race of a respective Remington Park racing program. REMEMBER, YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR SELECTIONS AT ANY TIME PRIOR TO THIRTY (30) MINUTES TO FIRST POST.
In the event of a tie for the highest accumulated “virtual” pari-mutuel total (bankroll), the player selecting the Most Winners throughout the contest will be declared the Grand Prize Winner. If there is still a tie for highest accumulated “virtual” bankroll after utilizing the tiebreaker, the contestants that are tied will split the prizes they are eligible to receive. For example if there is a tie for 1st Place with two contestants that cannot be separated using the tie-breaker, then those two contestants will split the combined 1st-place and 2nd-place prizes, evenly. This process will be used to decide all finishers eligible for prizes if need be.
Winners will be notified by email.
GOOD LUCK in THOROENDURO in 2014!
THOROENDURO for the 2014 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park will offer the following cash prizes, distributed to the top finishers, based on highest accumulated ‘virtual bankroll.’ The cash prizes will be awarded to eligible contestants as follows: 1st Place/Grand Prize-$4,000; 2nd Place-$1,500; 3rd Place-$1,000; 4th Place-$600; 5th Place-$400; 6th Place-$300 and 7th Place-$200.
THOROENDURO contestant who compiles the Most Winners via their contest-race selections will receive a $1,000 cash prize. In the event more than one contestant shares the highest amount of Most Winners, then the tie-breaker for this prize will go to the contestant with the highest accumulated “virtual” bankroll. If still tied after that, the $1,000 will be split evenly among those tied for Most Winners selected.
It is a possibility that a contestant can receive both a ‘virtual bankroll’ cash-prize and the prize for correctly selecting the Most Winners.
